I just went through this on a perkins A3-152 diesel. The parts from AGCO are Junk, even on the delux expensive kit. My kit had only a couple of Perkins parts, the rest of the parts were very poorly made! The kit came with 3 diffrent pistons and the rings were out of speck. The pistons didn't even have the same number of grooves in them and one was marked automotive. I found a genuine Perkins dealer ,Blue Ridge Diesel 540 389-7296 . These folks are the best people I have ever done buisness with. They truly worked hard to get the help, information and parts I needed. All parts for a compleat rebuild top to bottom, including a new crankshaft, all new OEM Perkins, was less than a grand, including shipping from Virginia to Calif! Ask for Richard in parts and tell him Mike fron Calif said Hi. And in case you are wondering, No I don't have any connections with them, they just did a great job. Gee I hope your 35 has the Perkins Diesel! Good Luck,Mike

The labor is not too difficult. The sleeves on mine came out with little trouble but I did have to make a fitting to go with my slide hammer that fits in the bottom of the sleeve. The fitting I used was about 1/2" steel cut round to fit in the bottom of the cyl and seat there. Then the slide hammer bolted through the fitting and the sleeves came out with a little force on the slide hammer. The rest of the overhaul was fairly straight forward.

I have used kits for both the Continental Z134 and the Perkins AD3-152 and have been happy with both. Both engines are running great. The biggest factor that is oustside of the control of the kit makers is the quality of your machine work. In both cases I spent an additional $500 - $700 or so dollars getting the head (valves, surfacing, leak check, acid bath) crankshaft grind (both required this), camshaft and lifter grind, flywheel re-surfacing, and radiator flush. New hoses, belts etc. At around $1000 - $1400 total on each rebuild I felt that the tractors will go another troublefree 5000 hours.
