Rebuilding crankcase pulley, plate and shaft on MF65 diesel for front hydraulics. The plate bolt heads are hitting the pivot pin or the pin bushing and breaking/shearing. It looks like the pivot pin has about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of play. It assembles OK but a close fit. Does anybody know the clearance? Do I have the wrong plate or pulley or is the pivot pin worn-out, this is the third try?

Hello Gordon -

The rear of the pivot pin on ours is flush with the casting.

If your adaptor plate bolts clear the casting, it should work.

It sounds like the retainer plate on the front, or the front casting may be worn allowing the axle to move back.

You could build up the castings with brazing and grind as necessary to remove that slop, or insert a 1/8 to 3/16 thick shim on the rear pin, next to the axle, to move the axle forward.

We brazed up both the axle pins and the casting holes to restore egg-shaped wear - 25 years ago - and it's still holding. We replaced the grease fittings at the same time, and used them!

Hope this helps, and I wish you better luck in the new year.
