I have a MF 250 WITH a 232 loader on it and a bush hog. My pto does nothing in any position and the 3pt lift doesnt lift either. As I shift the positioning or draft selector I can hear fluid loading in the housing but the lift does nothing ! This also has a switching valve to switch from loader to 3pt lift which I have had both ways and still no lift ! Down by the dip stick there is a slider with a + and- on it and a small rod that is hooked to nothing . What are these for ? Thanks for the help !_

PTO LIFT UPDATE REPAIRED Ok heres My story and Im stickin to it ! Listen and learn ,The hydr pump is driven off of the rear trans shaft it also has a shaft going throught it towards the pto BUT not to the pto , There is a coupler gear that hooks the 2 together IF the side pto cover was put on right ! Someone else had this cover off and the pto gear had slid forward way up on the pump rear shaft and they rotated the pto cover so the shift arm would go into the gear. Obviously the gear woild not couple to the pto shaft being 2 inches away from it . That was my Pto Problem 20 minute repair 0 cost but a tad of silicone sealant ! Next class is on the hydr Problem for the lift arms!

Ok on the hydr 3pt lift arms ! MY hyd pump was working fine , I know because the loader worked and it runs off the same pump Humm ! So I pulled the HEAVY arm cover and set in on a table .The piston was by-passing the hydr fluid by the old ptfe (petrolium teflon fortified ethylene) 1 ring that is on the piston , No more good steel rings we get wear out plastic stuff now people. So soon as I get the ring I will be liftin and PTO-in !

You could have a bad 2nd stage clutch. That clutch operates the main hydraulic pump and the PTO.
The + - is the hydraulic response lever, on the inside of the tractor it rests against a small button type pin to control response time of the 3 pt.
