Please Help!
I have a 1971 MF 135 tractor w/ contental 4 cyl. gas engine.
recently it started running rough, almost like the choke was on, but not.
I did a compression check, the two front cyl. where 5 lbs. less than the back two, but had good compression.
I also pulled one plug wire at a time off, which seemed to make no difference.
I then did a standard tune up. points, plugs, cap, rotor and wires
Seemed to make no difference.
Sent tractor OUT. The garage found that it had wiped a cam lobe and that the distributer needed to be rebuilt.
New cam and distributer and it still had the miss.
So we rebuilt the carb. Checked valve adj. Checked fuel tank, fuel line, and bowl, all OK
Still no difference.
Sent the carb. out to be (proffesionaly) rebuilt.
no difference.
new coil. no difference. getting exspensive! please help. Thank you

Rob, Before you put any more money in your 135 take the valve cover off and start it. Make certain you have up and down movement on all your rocker arms, if it is a overhead valve engine. If you have limited movement in one of your rocker arms than you might as well get prepared to replace the cam shaft. I'm sorry but Continental engines are sort of greek to me as to I am not sure if it is a overhead valve engine or the valve are in the block. Either way if you have a lobe that is wore down on your camshaft the miss will remain until the cam is replaced..Good luck.

What a horror story!! Only thing I can think of is a plugged aircleaner or a baffle loose in muffler blocking things.
