Maybe someone fromthe UK could answer some questions. Did they have 540/1000 pto? How many speeds forward? Did they have multipower? What do they weigh? Normal tire size? Most important, were they reliable? thanks

Hi there, I have owned a Massey 1200 for the past two and a half years. Its been used for transporting, heavy duty cultivating and ploughing using a mounted five furrow reversible plough. The grip and power is amazing. The 1200 only has a 1000rpm PTO speed but I think you can get a reduction unit to fit on the outside of the rear axle. They came as standard with Multi Power which obviously doubles the gears from six forward and two reverse to twelve forward and four reverse. The gear pattern is traditional Massey without syncro, but that is not much of a problem as it will go anywhere in top gear! They weigh about five tonnes, but the weight is really well distributed and even with a heavy five furrow reversible no front weights are needed. There were many diffrent tyre options and basically any rear tyres from a large Massey from that period will fit. In conclusion its a diffrent type of tractor and should not be compared with a conventional tractor. Personally my artic has been very reliable and great fun owning.
