Does anyone know what the temp range is for 30 and 40 weight diesel engine oil? Thank You, Mike

Motor oil viscosity is tested at 0 and 212 degrees Fahrenheit. A 5W-30 would have a lower viscosity and flow easier than a 10W-30 at 0 degrees. A 10W-40 would be more resistant to flow at 212 degrees than a 10W-30. An engine operating with the correct thermostat, radiator cap, water pump and anti-freeze mix should maintain correct operating temperature. My pickup requires 5W-30 and my automobile 10W-30. The "W" is for winter and does not designate the quality, or weight of the oil.
