Would a head off a gas engine bolt on to a diesel engine and could it work, I also wonder if compression would affect this. Any thoughts?

The gas head will bolt right on. compression is in the heads (top of piston comes even to deck on both)
same cam, etc I think torque specs would be different. not sure what gasket to use. there might be a problem with waterflow/ hot spots in the head(not sure of porting) good luck! don

Dan, In answering your question about whether or not a diesel head can be replaced by a gasoline head I don't think they are interchangable. The diesel engine runs at such an increased compression ratio as compared to a gasoline engine compression and the idea of spark plugs versus diesel injectors would make it impossible to be interchangable. Just mt thoughts though because I have never dwelled into it before. Scott

Same head gasket tolerance, different valves, cam,
head. Hardened crankshaft on Diesel, but will
accept HG277 crankshaft. Variations in the head,
possibly resolved by machining(we hope). Improved
head over that in the Special.
