MF 135/240 Position control/Pressure Control loopy

In my opinion the Position control/ pressure control on my MF240 is quite impractical. I would like to know what you guys out there think.

The Position control (which is used a lot) works over the small rearward portion of the quadrant and the Pressure control part (I know it is for transferring lift to trailers etc, but which I have never used and I'm sure 95% of Massey owners have never used) is on the much larger front quadrant. They really could have swapped the two quandrants or functions around - it's probably just a matter of mechanics. In fact, in my tractor the mechanic blocked off the pressure control part as he says it is an unnecessary complication which goes faulty in old age (which is where my tractor is, although it's a spring-chicken by this forum's standards - it is used for serious farming though, not just weekend work).

You can change the quadrant & linkage in your liftcover to the regular position control levers & eliminate the pressure control on them. You can also replace the whole liftcover as long as you use the liftcover from the right series of tractor. I have changed a few of them.

Thanks for your comments, Dean. Interesting that one can change it. I probably won't be doing that, as it it not such a hassle - I just thought that a more conventional arrangement would be more logical.

I asked for informations on this few days ago
Last week-end I met a MF-135 owner who have
this setup on his tractor he was happy to help and give me some informations..

Conlusion: With usual implements disregard the
pump pressure range on the position control quadrant. Take the sliding stopper from the
lower part and reinstall it on the upper part
in order to avoid the lever to go in the pump
control area. You may use the sliding stopper
already there to preset a position level.
I did it and the position control works perfectly in its range. I plowed aprox 1 acre and the draft control worked very well too.

The position control lever range is shorter than ones on the conventional models
backward is down.. forward is up... and position is in between.

I tried it with my back blade and after few minutes I was comfortable with it and position was very precise. In my opinion it works just as good as the "conventional" control but just little different to operate.

Thanks to all
