I went to the closest MF (now AGCO) dealer the other day for a replacement oil filter element (the one in the screw on canister, not the mesh one in the crankcase). This is the first oil change I have given her since acquiring this summer. What I was given was part #837595M91 (outside of box) and #15-82585 (on the inside tab). This new filter seems to be smaller in circumference and in overall volume as well as not having rubberized grommets at each of the ports.

Does anyone know if I was given the right filter? This is my first adventure into the world of Massey, so I have not yet gained a lot of experience in what will/should work versus what will not.

Thanks

Rick, I sell parts for a living and happen to have a Baldwin application/cross reference catalog in my computer. According to the part number from Massey the filter you have is for a Perkins Diesel. If you have a Perkins in your tractor this is the right filter. The other diesel M/F put in your machine is manufactured by Standard. This one would take another filter for the oil. First thing I would do is confirm which type of diesel is in your tractor, Perkins or Standard. The Baldwin number for a Standard diesel would be P174. The dealer should be able to cross this number to whatever filter he sells, if it is a Standard diesel, using the Baldwin number above. Let me know how things turn out. Scott

Thanks Scott,

I should have included that it was the 3cyl Perkins. I don't have any expericence yet with parts for Masseys and since this is the first change, I only have what I can see in front of me to go on. Was not sure wether the previous filter was the proper one or not either!

BTW, It is a sweet running little tractor with a lot of heart.
