I recently saw a Massey Ferguson lawn tractor for sale. It looks like a scaled down version of my 165. It has a number 14 where the 165 is on my larger tractor (14 HP?). The engine is a Kohler, and it says "Cast Iron Line" on it, and it has hydrostatic drive. Does anyone know anything about these small units? Are they well built and reliable? I don't know how much the sale price is, the owner wasn't home when I stopped.

I am looking for parts for my MF-16 that I want to restore. If anyone has any parts, please get in touch with me as I am very interested in finding some.

Massey offered a series of very heavy garden tractors in the late 1960's and early 1970's that looked like scaled-down verions of their full size tractors (they were made by AMF I believe). The MF14 had the Kohler solid cast iron block engine (K321), and is a virtually indestructible tractor. There are a number of implements available for them. Massey also offered a similar 16 hp tractor (MF 16), and two smaller 10 and 12 hp models powered by solid cast iron Tecumseh engines. There is a group on Yahoo dedicated to these MF garden tractors. I have a Kohler on one of my lawn tractors. The "Cast Iron Line" should read "Cast Iron Liner" with an "R". It is actually an aluminum engine. I don't know about the lawn tractor, but my experience with the Kohler engine has been good. C. T.
