MF 135 Question

Gentlemen,

I'm just over from the Ford 8N board and posting this for a co-worker - I plead total ignorance regarding any MF tractors.

My friend is negotiating a sight-unseen deal with an out of state buddy for a MF 135 with a loader. Can anyone provide basic information for this tractor? What years were these made? Live pto? HP? Known warts and weaknesses? How does it compare size-wise to a Ford 8N?

Thanks in advance - any information is appreciated.

David

I have just finished rebuilding the Perkins diesel in my Dads 1961 MF-35. It is the predicessor to the MF-135. My brother in law has a MF-135, and a friend has an 1948 something 8N. In discussions with the two above I beleive the MF 35 or 135 to be the stronger tractor. My Dad bought the MF-35 and used it twice a week or so for about 30 years. He always left it out in the weather. I believe it is about 39 HP.
He also had a MF-165 that my Uncle now owns. It was built in 1969. He hasn't been able to run it into the ground yet. It just leaks a little oil and keeps on running.
Good Luck

Hello, Talking from experience from presently owning both of these type tractors. The MF 135 does hivs live hydraulics, I belive 38 HP, an all around great working tractor, mine is a 1970 diesel 3 cyl. I do not have a loader, Canadian currency three years ago paid $4500.00 and very pleased with the investment. My tractors are really mostly toys, they might have 20 real hours of work per year. The 8n I have put a lot of money into for repairs and rebuilding and will continue to put more investment into both as I fully enjoy tractors and have no complaints with either. Cheers, Murray
