Thank You everybody for help on our problem. It turned out to be a partialy broken wire between the coil and distributor. Enough wire left to show spark but not enough for good fire. Once again thank you all.

I would try to turn the engine by hand to ensure it is free...My MF 35 can be turned by a socket from the front of the crank shaft, behind the radiator. Should turn easy if transmission is in neutral. Ensure the ignition is disconnected before you try to turn the engine just in case it trys to crank..
The transmission neutral safety switch on my Massey is in the middle and on top of the bell housing..Follow the small wire from the starter back. It goes straight to the neutral safety switch on my MF35.

Hi rusmel, You say you have spark so I am asuming that the engine is turning over with the starter. If it is turning over with the starter then that leaves 2 possible problems. Timing or fuel. If you are getting fuel and you have spark then you could have a problem with the timing. A little more info may be helpful. Did it just start this all of a sudden? Where you doing some work on the tractor? Has it been sitting for an extended period of time? Don't dispare. With the right information, someone out here has the answer. Good luck. Dave

Had a TO 35 that developed a bad neutral switch problem. It was intermittent so was bugger-all to track down. the problem ended up being corrosion in the connectors because the rubber boot had cracked. Might want to check... shouldn't be hard with an ohm meter or test light. - good luck - ALAN

Where is the neutral switch? Are you talking about where you put the key in? My tractor starts like a dream everytime. This morning as soon as I got in the barn it shut off. Now when I try to start it, it turns and turns but does not even attempt to fire. Haven't checked the sparkplugs for a spark yet, but I just feel like something electrical is in the way. I checked the gas and have a few inches left in the tank. The gas cup below the tank appears to be full as far as I can see.

Hi Larry, The neutral switch is located under the battery on transmission housing BUT it has nothing to do with your case of not firing up. The neutral switch is the safety feature that you have to put the tractor in neutral in order for starter to turn over. I hope you find the problem with your situation but do not discount the condenser under distributor cap if plugs don't fire. Otherwise you should make sure your main gaz valve under gas bowl is fully open since it allows for a reserve setting when not fully open.

Good Luck

Norm

Larry, tried to send you a picture of the switch but the server said your e-mail doesn't exist... if you still need it - send me your e-mail add & I'll send it right out.
