I think I have related issues, one is a very slight fuel leak between the tank and the filter bowl. (1) Can this be repaired without draining the tank and removing the filter assembly? And (2) the tractor runs very well for 3 to 5 minutes, then it seems to not be able to catch it's breath, in a matter of speaking. Could this be air getting into the fuel lines? And could this be related?

My MF 35 diesel has a shut of valve. Remove two bolts on the back of the tank. Lift the tank just a little. On the bottom is a shut off valve. Close this then fix the leak going to the fuel bowl. I have had mine off several times...My Dad had trouble once with flue lines...It has two fuel filters...They were clogged....Also the fuel line from the fuel filters to the injector pump was pluged...You may want to change fuelfilters remove the fuel lines going to the injector pump and blow them out with air....After I cleaned the fuel system throughly and rebuilt the engine it runs great.

My MF35 Perkins diesel would run for a bit then begin acting like yours. The RPM dropped and would not go back to normal until I shut it down for a while. Another sign is black smoke. Turned out the air cleaner hose was collapsing. The hose is about $20 U.S. but I used a cheap flexible automobile hose until the one I ordered was delivered. Good luck.
