I scanned all over this Massey Harris 44 special. I cannot find any numbers on this tractor that start with 44 then a letter then the number. I have numbers off the transmiision cover, and the numbers under the frame below the side rails, and I also found a number on the hydraulic cylinder mount on the right hand side of the seat, its stamped MF and then under that is the word "canada" then under canada a long number that I believe ends in M1 !!! but those dont tell me the serial number, any other other suggestions ? Please send replys to [email protected]

The serial number will be stamped into the top off the rear-end housing behind the pto shifter cover. You may have to clean off some paint to find it.Hope this helps you.

I finally found the serial number on my Massey Hareris 44 Special, and would like to thank everyone who offered advice.. It was located near the PTO shifter, and I also had to do some wire brushing to find it.. Thanks, Dave Golden (Stoystown, Pa)
