I bought an MF 135 diesel at auction, and was surprised to find that it does not have an ignition switch. The key on lower left (under the dash) just has two wires to it, and no "on" position, so it apparently just provides juice to the solenoid when turned to "start". I noted the fuel guage gets power from a fourth post on the voltage regulator, which must be "hot" only when the alternator is running. It has an alternator- did they have generators originally? Haven't traced the wires yet to see how the amp guage and lighting circuits are fed. The former owner was apparently a "tinkerer"- it has flashing rear lights, rear worklights separately switched, front and rear trailer plugs, etc. Any MF electrical jocks out there?
