The 744PD had a P6 288 diesel. the 354 is a lot bigger,(and a lot later in manufacture) and was used in much bigger tractors like the MF 1100 for example.

Seamo,
I believe Massey Harris in England made the 744 & 745.
The 744 used the Perkins P6 as far as i know.
hope this helps. Manuel

The Massey 744 and 745 tractors were built at the Massey factory at Kilmarnock ,Scotland now closed for some time. Had a friend who lives closeby and has a collection of tractors manufactured there.

I thougt that in Kilmarnock, Scotland was M-H combine factory and tractors were made in Manchester, England.

Production started with a pilot batch of 16 tractors from the Manchester factory in 1948. Full - scale manufacturing began the following year at the new Kilmarnock factory, Scotland where Massey-Harris had also established their British production lines for combines and balers. The tractor was known at first as the 744PD, and later the 744D after production had moved to Scotland.
