The ignition relay clicks whenever we turn the key to start the tractor. The tractor has been sitting for 6 weeks or so. Tried several barreries.
Any ideas? Where can I buy a new relay if thats the problem? Mike

Hello Marlowe, The relay is on the back of the engine. It has the wire from the switch. A wire to the battery, and a wire to the solenoid on the starter. I'll check out Napa for it. Never thought that our local Napa would have it because of its age and rarity around here. Not any 444s
anywhere around these parts that I've seen. On another note: thanks for the advice on the alternator question for the Case 450. Mike

Remove the battery cables and clean both ends totally free of all crud, corosion and color until they are a nice uniform shiny color. Emery cloth works well then a stiff clean wire brushing. Especially the ends at the battery terminals (and the battery terminals too). Reinstall everything nice and tight and I think your problem will be solved.

Hello Alberta Mike, Bet it is getting cooler in your neck of the woods. Thanks for reminding me to keep the terminals and clamps cleaned up. I did clean the battery clamps, and traded another battery. I'll clean up the terminals on the relay next. It looks clean now, but that corrosion is some sneaky stuff. Thanks again-
