Power Steering Fluid type

I own an old MF 135 diesel. The other day a power steering hose burst. I got a new hose then realized I didn't know what kind of fluid to put in the pump. Can anyone help? Question #2(unrelated) Does the lift have a filter for the THF fluid in the transmission? John R

Put the same hydraulic fluid used in trans gearbox.I made mistake of using ATF as stated in my service manual and I had to replace some seals as a result.Big Dean set me straight.Yes there is a filter accessed thru left(I believe) cover for PTO.Get a manual if you don't have one.Contact Big Dean's web page before you do anything.He has a wonderful C.D.with all kinds of info.

Recommend you get 1 Operator's Manual 2 Repair Manual, and 3 Parts Manual. My MF uses MF Permatran III in steering and trans/rearend/hydrolic.
