I am interested in putting a 251 chrysler industrial engine in a massey 102 senior. Has anyone tried this.

I'm sure I'll get corrected if I'm wrong, but I
believe the 251 c.i. is the long block (25 in).
The short blocks (218-230 etc) were the short
blocks (23 in). If you have the extra two inches
behind the bellhousing, it should work. I tried
putting a Spitfire in a tractor years ago and ran
into the two-inch problem and gave up. Best of luck. Let us know how you come out.

Thanks for responding. I decided to install a short block chrysler instead. Have purchased motor
out of a massey 72 combine. I believe it to be a 218 but am not sure as serial # on motor does not agree with motor # on machine nameplate.

I have a friend that has a 101 Super with a transplanted Dodge truck engine in it, I'm not sure what engine model. Those 101 Supers had a Chrysler engine in them from the factory. Everything seemed to bolt in pretty nicely but the front engine mount from the truck engine was adapted to fit the tractor mount system and it was a pretty ugly job. Don't know whether or not the front mount from a 101 Super would bolt up to another Chrysler engine, I'm sure it would. The cast iron tub in the Senior series is the same as on the Supers as well as on the Junior models.

Thanks for your help . I will be installing a short block chrysler instead of the long block. Am looking for a bell housing & clutch asm to fit the chrysler engine. May have at local wrecker but not certain we can agree on price.

Why not put the 226 continental engine in it.That is the engine massey used when they made the 102 senior.

Any comments on placement of Dodge (auto) slanting 6 in Fordson tractor? Looks like a Major Diesel. Has electric fan in front of the radiator.
