Have had a Pony for 20 years to mow my lawn but just started having trouble. Starts like a champ but after it warms up it starts to blow smoke out of the breater pipe and seems to have a knock. Still has pretty good power. Oil pressure good. No coolant leaks but is seem to be running hot. Stuck a compression tester on all four cylinders and have no compression at all. Even used two different testers. How the heck can it even run with no compression or am I doing something wrong? I am no mechanic by any means but like to fix things myself and learn as I go. Any thoughts or suggestions for this dumb grease monkey?

sounds like you are not seating the tester in the hole tight make sure A rubber o-ring is on the tester .If you don't get A reading still disconnect coil wire put your finger over hole to seal hole but not in hole, crank motor if finger blows off of hole you are doing something wrong with compression test. how much oil does it burn in 8 hours .The knock, does it go away if you pull off spark plug wire with motor running one at A time and put back on ,if so you have A wrist pin in that cyinder which is bad.
