Hello, Rebuilt my "58" from ground up been running very good. This is my first diesel rebuild and owned. Is there any diesel fuel additive that I should use from time to time? Also my tractor has the double fuel filter set up how often should they be replaced. Tractor is only used to keep up 4 acres not ran real hard, she done her share of work.

Matt,
I would say that if you buy clean fuel and keep it clean that the filters should be replaced every five years. My dad has let his go over twenty and the filters weren't bad but that is extreme. They just don't get that much stuf in them with clean fuel. If the tractor is run enough to use more than one tank of fuel per year, you should never have to worry about bacterial growth that can affect diesel type fuels. If you use the tractor less than about two tanks of fuel a year I would let the fuel level get down low each time before refilling so that you don't have much old fuel left in the tank. I have never had any use for any additives. Good clean fuel will never need any additives. I know that there are people out there that use additves and swear by them but the fuel itself and the pumps were designed to be used without additives. We have had many many diesel powered tractors over the last sixty years and none of them has ever had additives in them and injection pumps and injectors have never been any problem for us.
