I have a 3 bottom 12" plow in central Illinois. It's a Ferguson, though - Not MF.

We pulled it with a TO35 when I was a kid. I spent a heck of a lot of time on that tractor pulling that plow. It handled real well in everything except heavy clay.

Dad gave me the plow a few years ago when he went to 100% no-till. I don't get much of a chance to use it anymore.

My Uncle has a MF 3/12 plow also. Me pulled it with a TO30

we had two MF 3X 12" ploughs here in the UK many years ago.. I think they were called "Massey Ferguson 793". We used to pull them with MF 65 tractors.

Hello Roy
Was the 793 a trip bottom?I have a MF 35 delux with multi power tires loaded front and rear wheel wieghts it runs away with 2x16s.I plow in 4th gear and could shift to high in the multi power, but it would be to fast.Sure would like to try 3x12s think I could pull it in third gear. The fella acrross the road would s--t has pants if he seen me plowin with that 35 with a 3B plow behind it.He pulls 3x16s with his MF 165.

No, the plows in question were plain old fixed beam things! I think one of the reasons we traded them in was we wanted some sort of protection against collision with hidden objects, big rocks , tree roots etc,so they were traded in against a couple of Kvernelands with shear-bolt legs.

Would like to try one of those kvernland plows. They look like a good plow, but we only use our big molboard plow to turn over alfalfa fields. We use chisels plow for everying else when we plow.Twenty years ago use to turn it over one year chisel plow the next I guess the chisel plow and subsoilers won.Maybe the no till planter will be the next winner.Theres big plows laying all over the place for cheap next will be the chisel plow. You guys need them over there???Pretty soon will be able to plant from bed or our second jobs won't need tractors either.Just go to gorcery store it will be there.Scary thought

Come to think of it, I think Dad plowed with one of the 3 X 12's with a MF 135 occasionally and I think it handled it ok

Thanks for the info.I'll see if I can find one thats not sprung from these michigan rocks or potatos as we call em.Thats why I wish there was a trip bottom 12" lots of these plows were also hooked to bigger power tractors. Their only good for show now.Maybe I can build one from two plows.

Plowin and lookin for a good 3x12"plow!!!
