I'm thinking about restoring a Massey-Harris 44 and would like to start gathering information in order to get parts manuals, etc..

I've inspected the tractor to try and locate a plate that would at least indicate the exact model S/N, etc.

I can't seem to locate it.

Is there a particular spot I should be looking?

Thanks,

Michael

Thanks for the reply.
My 44 doesn't have a PTO - it has a pulley drive off to one side. I checked near the pulley engaging lever (just below stering column) and found a stamped number (763398M2)on the vertical portion of the casing.
Does this ring a bell?
By the way, you were right - no markings left under the battery box!
Thanks

On a 44 the serial # plate is on the frame directly below the battery, because of this though many have been eaten away by battery acid, but if you look on the main case behind the PTO engageing lever your serial #is stamped, you'll more then likely have to do some serious cleaning to find it.
