Hi all I am restoring a 101 jr when I checked the serial number in my old fastline book the serial number (502295) does not show up in the 101 jr section but it is in the 101 jr SUPER section can anyone tell me the difference between the 101 jr and the 101 jr super? this tractor has a continental 160 cu in motor in it. also I need a starter ring gear if anyone knows where I can get one I would be truly grateful. Thanks Willy

Your serial number shows up on my list. It is a 1944 row crop model. The 162 engine is correct. Only 162 engines were used from 1943 onwards in both the gas and kerosene Juniors. Here in Canada your tractor would be called a 102G Junior with the G standing for gas. The tractors sold in the US were apparently still called 101 Juniors after 1943. Kereosene tractors were always badged 102 Juniors. (no G ).

Actually there is no such thing as a 101 Jr. Super. The Super models had 6-cylinder Chrysler engines while your Junior has a 4-cylinder Continental. I wasn't aware that the big version of that engine (162) showed up in the Juniors, I thought they all had 124 or 140 cubic inch versions but sounds like I was wrong. I have restored 2 101 Juniors (wide fronts). Email me on the above link for my email address, I have some stuff here you might be interested in.

My book says the 101 JR numbers in the row crop design for 1945 begin 502434 and end 503778 It seems to me your numbers fit. The 101 and 101 super start 1938 row crop 255001 to 1942 260017 and standard 1938 355001 to 358918 the seniors row crop 1942 start 260018 and end 1946 272506 and the standards 1942 358919 and end 1946 363647. The 4 cyl 162 ci engine also makes it a 101 JR. After the slight sheet metal and grille change in 1943 the 162 engine was used.
