A GOOD NUMBER IS 40 HP DEPENDS ON WHAT KIND OF SHAPE THE ENGINE IS IN AND IF SOMEONE TURN OR WORKED ON THE PUMP BUT THE 3 CYL PENKINS ENGINES IN THE 135 WAS A PULLING LITTLE CHAMP

The later Perkins 152's pushed up to 45 PTO hp, depending on model tractor.

The current Perkins 164 (domed pistons)turbo units do 65 PTO hp.

These little 3-cylinder units can do!

I always thought they were 45 - 47 bhp on the 3 cyl perkins....not sure on the pto hp. Check out Big Deans site. I'm sure he'll set you right.

It is 47 hp. These numbers above are probably from the Nebraska tractor tests and I have noticed (as have many others) that these numbers are always too low. Someone has also pointed out that the hp ratings given to North American tractors are bigger in comparison to others. I don't know about that but if you look at the hp numbers given for example by the manufacturer you'll see the difference. This kind of tests were also made in other countries and the results are different than the Nebraska tests. I also think that the testing methods might have been unequal. A good example of it is the Fordson Power Major and Super Major (not USA made). The hp rating given to Super Major was smaller than that was given to Power Major although Super was newer model and it had more power. The Super had a slighly different tranmission gear ratios but it should have been taken into account when testing it and that wouldn't have effected that much. I used this only for an example and I'm not a fanatic about Fordsons. This have been noticed with other brands too.

I hope to receive some comments on this, please.
