I just bought a MH-44GS. What does the GS stand for?

The G stands for gasoline engine, while the S stands for standard (wide front, non-adjustable) wheel configuration. If you had a DR for example, you'd have a diesel-rowcrop (narrow front, rear wheels adjustable), etc. There are a ton of those MH44 GS's up in these parts, they were a very popular tractor and a lot of them are still in use.

I was mistaken the tag actually says 44GR 15540,
but it has a wide front end. Not sure if it was converted or if the tag is original??
It is running bad right now, not sure if it is a fuel or electrical problem or something worse like a stuck valve?? I'm without manuals right now, so I've been relying on the Net.
Thanks Again! Mark

The R or rowcrop designation is somewhat fuzzy at times. I'm not sure about the MH44's but some other tractors had wide fronts and were designated as being row crop or "R" in their ID tags. The reason being is that some rowcrops had adjustable rear and front wide axels for tire width and hence they were used and ID'd as being rowcrops. There was some discussion topic here a while ago on the subject.
