As you may realize this tractor board is dying. A
few years ago, there were several alive sites for
MHF. Now, stale ads of six months, or a year remain posted. We can't find M-H parts, a serious
problem. Jump over to the 'n' site, you get the
surprise of an ongoing party, no parts search to
worry of. Yes, their models are toys to play with.
We need to compile a North American search of all
parked Massey-Harris tractors. Then restoration,
before rusting away could commence. The tease
postings of a rusting Massey appear monthly, but
it's near impossible to get that location. The
guy spins out words, but vanishes. Who gets the
the tractor? The weathering elements of corrosion?
These tractors need saving. Comments on parked
Massey classics?

I think the original post has struck a cord that a lot of us are interested in. Who has what --- what do you need ---- what do you want to sell --- what problems do you need help with. We as Massey Collectors need a web site for us. I have (12) Massey's, ranging from a Pony to a MF97, plus an old Massey plow, and would be interested in a site just for Massey Collectors.

Hi Karl,
There are two websites for Massey Collectors!! One is provided by the National Massey Collectors Association http://masseycollectors.org and the other is provided by an individual Massey collector http://www.juniorscomputer.com/massey/index.shtml

You will see they are very similiar but different. Buy, sell, discover, see pictures, get Massey info all at one location. Check it out and enjoy!!

The National Massey Show is in PA over LAbor day - come on out to it!! Expecting over 300 tractors and more!!

MasseyH,
Since you brought the name up as support, isn't what may have been a good intention, become part
of the problem? Try e mailing those ads on
junior's computer/MasseyBoard.com, they're dead
ends. The 444 in Kansas from May? Parts from February? What happened to the Un-offical Massey
Harris page, and the years-in-progress 444 Home
page? Mention 'Wild Harvest', and subscribers say
issues are missing. An angry Don, has posted on one site, for the guy with 3 ads of F40 parts,to
sell the rusty junk. Compiling the rusting M-H's
would be like an animal shelter, we all adopt one
for preservation. Will junior pull that tired joke
burnt 44 Special photo, and restore? We need less
opinion posts,but more(all) tractor locations.

Sorry for my being confused ut I am. Do you mean that this board will be exterminated, it'll be harder and harder to find parts/tractors, or what? If it about the tractors because production ceased so long ago, that's a given. But, 8n's aren't on the menu anymore either. Another ?? is are you folks suggesting that if I see a tractor for sale to post info here on this board? I thought that was a no-no. I've been biding my time watching for the money to come around for a 180 at a local dealer. Sitting in the "salvage" group, wishing I'd pick it u and do something with it.

I agree this is a site wich seems to draw a little less interest for MH tractors. I am a crawler guy but I am working on a pony, and can find a few parts but no radiator still. Out here in UTAH I havent seen a ton of massey harris's. But I will keep my eyes open and try to post the ones I do see if they are for sale. I think generally if us as "tractor people" find any old machine for sale, regardless of the breed should with the sellers permission post it. I think at least it would put more machines in a pool to draw from. Just my thoughts.

Truth is there are a lot of well restored Masseys out there , but maybe most of the old ones are still earning a living , while the N groupies spend most of their time in the shop and on the net , all my old babies are working relics including the N and the MH30.

You are so right about the N-series tractors just sitting around, I have to masseys, a 65 (partly restored- but running and working), and 35 utility with front end loader, little rough looking, both run great and are still working, as they will be for a long time! Great tractors, well engineered and built.

the massey tractors need to be saved before they rust away into oblivion. its not that they arent around, its more that the owners neglect them and figure no one is interested in them.im always looking for a good massey harris 44-6 to restore and for a decent massey 65 diesel-matic to work on..... any ideas??

Joe, To restore one 44-6, you probably need two, since
they will be about 55 years old. Nice reply to the
posting, but a general location would draw more
replies. Hauling costs more than the tractors, in
many deals. I'm always looking for Triple and
Special parts in the Northeast, but find unseen
parts in the Northwest. Freight is painful when
a jockey ships returnable junk. $40. for the part,
$25. to ship, then pay $25. to ship back? I eat
more tired iron. Better to buy the complete parked
tractor, plenty to use on your restoration model.
Good Luck with the 44-6, a quiet runner.

thanks for the tips....i live in northeast ohio.....so theres no lack of parts. my uncle has a 44-6 thats been in dry storage since'87....might try to get him to sell it...it only needed a new radiator when parked. still trying to locate a good massey ferguson 65 diesel-matic.probably will cost more than a regular diesel because of the multi-power, but in my book its well worth it. 2nd gear in high range is 2.1 mph....perfect for the pulling i plan on doing. i'll keep up the search and keep your advice in mind. thanks.

I am a new 1969 Massey 135 owner and very happy with it. I spend time on the N-Board alot. I have noticed this board is a little slow even tho I got answers to my questions asked. Could be that there are a lot more Ns made that allows more parts avalible to get Or maybe the Masseys are still working and not being parted? Mark H.

You have a super rare 1957 44 "rusting away" since production stopped on them in 1953!! I would sure do something with it. I think the Masseys are very much alive and well considering the numbers produced and the numbers still in use on the smaller farms. 1958 was the last year a Massey Harris was produced in the US so the pool is obviously smaller than the other red tractor or the green ones. Come to the National Massey Show in PA over Labor Day to see for yourself.

The serial number should be on the left top of the transmission plate in front of the pto lever. You might have to do some cleaning and rubbing to see it but it should be a stamped number with two lines the first would probably be 44 GR or GS (for Gas Row-Crop or Gas Standard) the second row will be the serial number. This number would match the id plate on the left side of the frame under the battery area. Hope this helps. Let me know the numbers and we will find the year for you. Is it RC, does it have cast wheels on rear? Tell us more.

Looks like it is a 1951 Massey Harris 44 Standard. The 1951 numbers went from 13726 to 17058. Glad to see it still has the original tag plate on it!! The old 260 Continental engine was a strong motor and parts are still relatively easy to find as are all the other parts. If you need help finding something just e-mail me and I will help point you in the right direction.

Perhaps your 1957 M-H is a 444, the last of the 44 versions. S/N would be stamped on right frame,
beneath fuel tank, near belt pulley housing.
Numbers would be between 74 and 77 thousand. The
tractors for sale, have a safer chance to change
owners. It's the forgotten ones, that blew a
radiator a decade ago, where are they? This issue
strikes the chord of a serious oversight, photos
don't represent Massey-Harris, the renewed tractors do. Interesting subject to pursue.
