I don't know if all this will fit on here, but this is what my 2135 owner's manual says: "DIFFERENTIAL LOCK (Optional) The Differential lock pedal, No.2, Fig. 2, is located to the rear of the right step plate and is the tip-up type, wjocj provides additional foot-space when pedal is not in use. Differential lock is especailly advantageous where traction is poor. By deressing the differential lock pedal, the rear axles are locked together so that both rear wheels pull simultaneously, providing greater traction and preventing needless tire wear. IMPORTANT: FOR BEST RESULTS, ENGAGE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK BEFORE EXCESSIVE SLIPPAGE OCCURS. DO NOT ENGAGE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK WITH ONE WHEEL SPINNING. IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS, DEPRESS CLUTCH PEDAL AND, THEN, ENGAGE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK. THE DIFFERENTAIL LOCK CAN BE DISENGAGED IN SEVERAL WAYS. FIRST, RELEASE THE PEDAL, THEN, (1) DECLUTCH THE TRACTOR, (2) TURN TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT, (3) LIGHTLY DEPRESS THE RIGHT BRAKE PEDAL." The caps were actually italics Except for "DO NOT ENGAGE THE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK WITH ONE WHEEL SPINNING." This seems to say to me that if you get into a spot where you start spinning one tire, just clutch and engage the lock and unclutch. It should disengage itself before you do any damage to the differential. I usually do all three of those things just to be fer sure fer sure. Actually, this thread has been most informative for me, putting to lie the posting about this site being stale:)
