I bought a 1959 MF-88 last year and haven't been able to find a source for info and/or parts. The local MF dealer is great for new parts but I'd like to start restoring it from salvaged tractors. Also... The PTO is intermittent and the power steering is non-functional. Any ideas?

Is the 85 MF the same tractor? I have one with
cracked head, bursted piston. (diesel) It is on
like new front rubber, 30-13.9 rears that are usable. It has ps, remote hydraulics, wide front.
I will take $800 loaded on your truck. I am
in Western KY.

The 85 is the "Row Crop" version & the 88 is the standard or wheatland version. One of the major difference is there is no 3pt on the 88 ( the main hydraulic pump does not have the outlet for the lift arms ). The power steering/pto pump should be the same, I believe.

I rebuilt both pumps on my 85 with pumps from a 90. Some of the parts on the steering/pto pump were different, but the main pump was the same.

The pto and power steering run from the same pump. A good working used one will be very hard to find. New after market pumps are available for around $900. A salvage yard in Lawrenceberg Tenn. by the name of TIPS is a source of parts.
