I'm told the mf 235 has insurmountable steering problems, and that I should thus not purchase a used one I am looking at which only has 900 hours? Anyone have any experience, good or bad?

Stearing problem on the 235 with power steering can be corrected. Depending on the model and serial number plus part number found on the steering arm inside the unit determine if you need to have the arms replaced nor not. There was a conversion to the problem that came out after it was produced back in the 70's. Expensive but then it is a good tractor. And that is about the only problem I ever had with mine since I brought it new in 1976, And it still going strong.
