Immediately below the seat on my 444 there is a bracket that would appear to be for some attachment. (See arrow in picture.) Can anyone tell me what it was used for?

Thanks in advance!

Does not seem to be original equipment. I've seen
Specials with the top link modified similar, to
run a Bush Hog, requiring PTO & 3 point. Perhaps
an implement altered to better fit a Special was
also being used on this tractor. Of course, you already know, you own one of the
greatest tractors ever built. Everyone should be
fully restored as a National treasure.
Congradulations on choosing a genuine classic
444. Good luck with your gem.

While it is possible that it is not original equipment, they did quite a job. The brackets that fasten to the sides of the rearend housand are stamped steel, not cut. They are formed to clear the factory PTO lever also. The cross bar in back was replaced by me as the original was bent. The two plates that form the attachment position are also stamped to shape, not cut.

thanks again.
