I am looking for a used front end loader system to fit my MF65 which is not fitted with any hydraulic systems other than the power steering.
I have been offered two systems which I have been told by the sellers will fit. Both so far are unseen. One is off a TE20 and has about a 3 foot bucket. I'm told it is "single action". Asking price about $US 1500.00(approx.$A 2600.00). The second is off a MF165, is all hydraulic, has about a half cub. yard bucket and is thought to be a genuine MF80 loader - asking price about $US2200.00(approx. $A 3800.00) It would need all new hoses and I'm told I would probably also need a diverter valve for the 65.
I woud appreciate anybody commenting on these systems and advising if either can really be fitted to the MF65. Also what are the traps in purchasing and fitting? What about the prices which are estimated with some freight to my door - bearing in mind this is Australia?
Are there any new ones that don't cost an arm and a leg?
Thanks for the help,
Eric

Hi Eric,
The front mount pump would do better as has been mentioned. Have you checked salvage yards too see if that steering arm is available? One option might be to find a used tractor with a loader allready on it. The 65 could be sold and you would probably be in about the same out of pocket expense? Unless the 65 is something you really wanted to hang onto, I feel that way about my 135 massey even though I wish it were diesel and had power steering on it. I have seen tractors with loaders selling in the photo ads that might just do what you need and you could look too that as an example to see what you would be out cash wise. Just my .02 worth.

The 'proper'loader for the 65 was the 35 loader, out of the two loaders you mention i would go for the 80.It should bolt on the 65 ok if it has been on a 165.Use the divertor valve from the 165 just in front of the seat on the rear trans housing.

Thanks Richard,
I don't know the MF165 but thought it might have been around the same physical size as the MF65 so the loader off one should fit the other. I've been advised there is a new MF32 loader that shouldn't be much more expensive than the one off the 165. I can't find any reference to it here yet but I think freight and tax would push it much higher than in the USA so the ex 165 might be the best bet.

I would not hook up to your tractor's internal hydraukics . They are notoriously slow , a small child could grow up waiting for them to lift, go for a front mounted pump or at worst a PTO driven pump at rear . We had a 65 with a George White loader , great loader but sloooow . The 255 we got next had the big pumps and what a differece it made . Good Luck---Bill

You are right it will be slow that piston pump will only make about 3 imperial gall/min.A rear mounted pump will be easy and cheap but is a bind if you need to use the P.T.O.for other jobs.To fit a live front mounted pump the steering would most likley get in the way, unless you fit a double or triple crank pulley and belt drive a side mounted pump, even then i think things will be pretty tight arond the front pulley area.

Thanks Bill,
While the front pump would be better I have been advised that this would require the fitting of a special steering arm that is no longer available so the options are pretty limited.

What did you end up doing? I have a 65 high clearance and bought a MF99 loader with a front pump but haven't figured out how to deal with the steering arm that gets in the way of the hole when it turns all the way to the left.
