Thank God no one was hurt. Also no major damage done . Here's a trick for you I learned back in my construction equipment running/hauling days. Get 2 good blocks that will just fit under the rear corners of your trailer and use them when you load up. Also a good idea to block a wheel or 2 especially if its not a flat plaace where you're loading. Good luck-

What a ride , you are lucky to be around to tell about it . In the course of farming , we all get our share of close shaves . I , once had a round baler closed on me by my 4 yr old son. My fault , I left the Massey running and didn't use safety latches . He got playing with levers in cab . My rule of thumb when loading tractors and esp skidsteers "Is back on and drive off" , seems to be fewer surprises that way . --- Bill

same story. friend hauling my dozer on his light truck & trailer. Backing off, my dozer lifted trialer, which picked up truck & we all 3 went for a short, wild ride. ROPS cab on dozer protected me, but I never overturned, just kept on backing up til I got off & everything was ok then. But talk about a surprised bunch!??

You have every right to be shaking that off, sounds like a super scary deal to even watch on tv or something, let alone in person. I did a doosy with my 3020 one time, I had 4 rolls of hay on a bale wagon and I turned a corner a little too sharp, the trailer dipped into a hole and I unloaded all 4 rolls right into a wet mud hole. I went in with the tractor and my squeeze loader and got 3 out with no problem, but on that last one, I started cutting deeper into the mud and the tractor would not do anything but that side to side shifting. Anyhow t make a long story short I stood the tractor almost straight up and if the squeeeze had not been on it with the bale in it I know it would have went all the way over. You can't be too carefull.
May we all exercise extreme caution when doing the work iwth our machines and may we all be safe to farm another day!
God Bless us all!
GAry

Thank you. This'll remind us all how close it can be. I looked this week at a site that had pictures of tractors burned and turned over and that site together with your story has a real impact on me. I was mowing a sidehill this week and did it with more care than ever before. When you relay important things like this you are serving the whole community by telling people not to wait until a disaster happens to reconsider how you do things. Again, thank you and also thank you for including the blessings of God in your story for you truly were.

Similar thing happened to my dad once. Unloading a tractor on a hill. The nose of the truck was pointing down & when the weight of the tractor got to the beaver tail on the trailer, the front of the trailer raised up. This also raised the back of the truck. Now the tires are still on the ground, but there is a lot less weight on them. The trailer pushed the truck sideways ( jack-knived ) down the hill about 30 feet.

2 things learned here. 1) Never load/unload on a hill. 2) The ramps on the trailer are now "L" shaped. This allows the ramp to hold the weight of the tractor & keeps the trailer from dropping down.

Certainly glad to hear no one got hurt.
When I first started hauling my old F-12 to shows I would put blocks under rear of trailer to avoid tongue from lifting. One time the block shifted and that side of trailer went down, and so did that rear wheel, what a ride. The next week I went to TSC and bought 2 swing type trailer screw jacks. Welded one to each side at the rear of the trailer frame, haven't had any exciting rides since.

There are some guys that are experts at loading and unloading tractors, and I'm not one of them. I've done a few and somehow have avoided any major problems although I almost wheelied a Cockshutt 30 over on myself once while driving it up the ramps forward. It's hard to imagine what can happen when a tractor is being loaded, your story is one of many that have been posted here on the YT site. There seems to be so many variables involved, it's a real tough job to do it right. I'd like to see an article titled "The Right Way To Load A Tractor" or something like that. Problem is, there's always disagreement on some of the methods, I've read a number of them here on this site many times. Well, the good thing is that nobody was hurt and maybe we all learned something. Any idea as to why it did what it did? Never heard of that happening before.

Mike The weight of the tractor coming off the trailer caused the trailer to pick the back end of truck up off ground and lost traction and started rolling backwards. solution put good set of ramps on trailer with feet on it so trailer dont raise truck off ground. Thanks for your reply Wendell
