I am currently rebuilding a engine on a MF135 desil with a AD3 152 engine. I know that the start aids only worked when the tractors were new, I have tested the coil this works but i don't know how fuel gets in. Can someone tell me how they work please!!

The cold start device on the old Perkins uses the heating coil to heat a small pipe that runs down the middle of the coil. When the pipe gets hot it expands, getting longer. This lets a steel ball come off its seat at the end of the pipe, this lets fuel drip on the coil. I live in a warm area in calif. and have never had to use it. Hope this helps, D3 Mike

Any 135 I've seen , may have used a preheater in intake manifold (Canada) , it only heated air BEFORE it got sucked into combustion chamber , where it was mixed with fuel . Most DI 152's didn't need much help starting even in Canada.---Bill
