Adjusting the voltage regulator on a MF 135

We had to take the voltage regulator off from our MF-135 (diesel model) because there was no charge from the generator. We tried turning the adjusting screws in it and it helped. The relay must have been stuck. Now we would want to know how many amperes the ampere meter should show when charging an almost empty battery? Is 15 A too much? How about when the battery is full? Also what would be a proper reading of a voltmeter from the battery terminals while charging? We got something like 13-13.5 V. All help will be appreciated.

I have an FE35 and it charges at just under 15A when battery is low. I wondered if it was too high but came to the conclusion that it probably was ok otherwise, why have an ammeter that goes 0 - 30A? Not very reassuring logic I know but I guess if there's now 3 machines with the same behavior it is probably ok. Mine drops back quickly to 2 -3 Amps too. Your voltage reading is fine. I have put a multimeter across lots of batteries to check if they're charging and this is about right.

On my 70 135, during normal operation, my meter goes up to around 15 amps when I first start it then starts to drop within a minute or so, and then operates from 0 to 2 or three amps. I have seen it charge higher than that when the battery was low. Never pegged the meter but close to full scale. 13 to 13.5 volts output is normal while charging.....
