Our MF 135 clutch is not working after having sat in the shed all winter. Worked going in, but coming out, we can't shift out of gear unless we turn off the motor to keep the gears from grinding. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? I notice there is a metal plate under the gear housing held on by four bolts, is there an adujustment to check?
Thanks for any helpful

Sounds as if the clutch plate has rusted or seized
to the flywheel. This is a common occurance with Masseys. Sometimes they can be freed buy hooking
the tractor to something solid and pulling against
it in a high gear. Quite often the tractor has to be split in order fix the problem. Good luck.

You might also get it loose by putting it in high gear, have someone sit on the tractor and hold the clutch pedal down, then rock the tractor back and forth.

you need to put a load on it (log chain around a tree will work)put it in high gear with the clutch pedal down and pull. It will free up in 10sec. The clutch plate has rusted to the flywheel.

Someone else had this problem recently. Some one else suggested removing the bottom insapection hatch - spraying with WD40 etc and leaving the clutch depressed overnight using a clamp etc.
Similar to what I do if my car has the same problem.

Most likely that the Driven plate has stuck to the flywheel. Can be caused by a little rust or oil. One way to release it is to put the tractor in first gear and start the engine (Make sure you have planty of room in front). Once the tractor is moving along gently press the brakes until the clutch releases. The clutch should be fine again until you let it sit for a long time.

Cheers

Sorry forgot to say that you have to have your foot on clutch when you apply the brakes.
