Anyone know if these tractors (the 81, 82 or 20) were sold with the Hi-Arch adjustable wide front? I never saw one with a wide front and wondered if MH had sold these in the config. If they did how tough would it be to find one since I don't think a lot of these had the WF option?

Yes LeRoy the Rowcrop versions of these tractors could be changed over to an ajustible wide front or a single Caster Wheel if you ordered the parts from Massey Harris for this .The Model 81 parts book shows these parts on page 64. There were standard Versions of these models that came with a regular wide front.
I own two Standard 1945 Model 81s and found a parts book for them at a farm auction .

George,
Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me if you ever saw a Row Crop with a wide front end? How do you like your standards? A standard would be nice.

LeRoy : Some where I have a picture of one in one of my Tractor Books . I will have a look for it. I like my Standards very much . In my part of Ontario there are not many Rowcrop tractors .

George,

I like Standards myself, they are a tad more compact and do save a little room when storing (of course all of mine are outside under tarps). Wouldn't mind finding a MH 20 or 81 Standard. You just don't see them around here in Pennsylvania, at least not that I've run into. Would be interested in seeing that picture. Now if I could find a nice Row Crop with the original cultivators and plow....I'd be drooling.

LeRoy :
I found the picture of an #81 Rowcrop Wide Front in my copy of "Vintage Farm Tractors" "The Ultimate Tribute to Classic Tractors " by Ralph W. Sanders on page 139. I have no way to show you the picture but you might find this book at a Book Store that sells Tractor Books . The Massey National Show will be in Pennsylvania this August. You might find some one there with one of these Tractors . Its near Hughsville ; I understand .
Hope this Helps !
