I have a FE35 with the Standard 23C 4cyl diesel engine (thanks Jack!). I have done the air and oil filters but wish to clean the fuel filter as I've no idea how long ago it was done. There are two units on the rear LHS of the engine both of which have bolts on the base (and seem to leak diesel!). Do these two units house fuel filters and are they of the type which I can remove and clean or are they throw away jobs?.
As always thanks for any advice....

Good morning, Craig -

And you're welcome, from chilly (-18C) eastern Canada!

Those units are your fuel filters, and by all means, change them. Dirt or water getting through those filters lead to the most expensive problems you can face with a diesel, short of actually blowing up the engine!

Both are replaceable cartridges, not cleanable.

The front cartridge (primary, wider can) is about 2 1/4" high, 3 7/16 d, with a 3/4 +/- hole. MF 1 012 006 M1 or M2, CAV 7111/44, Wix 33114, Perkins 31944, Fram C11838PL.

Secondary cart is about 3 1/2 h, 2 3/4 d, 1 5/16 hole. MF 1 850 450 M1 or M2, Wix 33194, Perkins 32543 or 32327, Purolator P99162B, AC FF23 or Fram C11816PL.

Don't know what brands you have in NZ, but you should be able to find equivalents from the above numbers.

Tasmania has the same tractor as yours, says he gets his parts from a NZ firm called BARE-CO, with good results.

A very light buttering of silicone caulking or teflon paste on the bottom sealing washers when you replace them will usually stop the fuel seepage.

Hope this helps.
