If your an average or fair mechanic you can do it....if you have problems with fractions...and don't know a 1/2 from a 9/16.....you might want to get some help.....I would not be afraid to attempt the repair, but I have a full time job and my tractor doesn't need to run every day....my guess would be 4 hours from start to tools put away and hands washed....pro's probably faster, you could check a flat rate manual for average pro's time....but most can usually do it in half the time of the flat rate manual..... I say.....GO FOR IT!!!!!

Thanks for the advice Bill

I decided to have a better look where the water was coming from and ended up taking the water pump off. I'm glad I did, the bearing in the pump is stuffed and which I supose killed the seal. With a bit of luck I hope to find a replacement pump or some sort of kit .

The nearest Perkins dealer to me could not even figure out what type of engine I had last time I went there.

Cheers Marty in oz
