I've been given a MF 65 which I can't seem to get going.I've bled the injectors,it has clean diesel in it given it a few good squirts of ether but it still wants to be a bit stubborn. It hasn't been running for a year or so.Maybe injectors need cleaning?? The last thing I tried was tow starting, but when I went to dump the clutch,it didn't seem to engage properly.Stuffed clutch??
There is an up and down lever on the right side of the dash, facing towards the rear which seems to actuate a vertical rod in front of the clutch.Does anyone know what this does? The lever moves up and down o.k,but the rod near the clutch won't budge.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

P.S I'm down in New Zealand

The lever to the right is the High/Low selector. When it is in the forward on reverse position then the gears are engaged, but if it is in the middle, then it is in neutral, no matter where the main gear lever is (that is the one on the left if you are unsure, sorry if you already knew). I have heard that the gears can get stuck in gear quite regularly, so waite for someone to tell you how to unstick them, cus I'm not too sure. Hope this helps.

A switch on the dash will be a multipower gearbox. Do not under any circumstances try to tow start this tractor as the multipower, when not driven by the engine, is essentially engaged in two gears at once, locking the gearbox. Thus always start on the starter motor.

As far as not starting is concerned, have you checked for fuel delivery at the injector pipes? I've known the metering valve in the pump to sieze up on these and so although the pump appears bled OK there is no delivery at the injectors. Dirty injectors will not ususally prevent starting. Is the heater plug working OK?

Sounds like the tractor needs splitting before you go much further, as the hydraulic valve for the multipower or it's linkage is probably siezed.
