In the process of having my MH 22 overhauled, in order to avoid a complete rebuild of my engine, I searched and (thought I) found a replacement. The seller told me it was off a MH swather (not sure what model) and he assured me it was the exact same engine to fit my 22. Well he was wrong...not exact...not even close! Before sending it back (now I am in process of rebuilding my engine which I should have done in the first place), I'd like to know what other applications this swather engine might have. As I understand, there are lots of different Continentals. Surely the particular one I have must fit some model MH tractor, yes? No? If yes, I might go looking for that model to mate my engine with. Unfortunately, the engine tag is missing. How might I go about determining its model? Incidentally, the head measures 15 inches long. Thanks!

Should be the same engine. I have an engine here out of a MH 34 swather that is identical to all the others, but the flywheel, and flywheel housing at the back end are different than on the MH tractors. From the engine block forward, they should all be the same I'd say.

Hi Norb-The continental engines model 124;140 and 162 are all the same block. The model number is located on the left-hand side of the engine at the front just above the oil filler spout.Hope this helps.Bruce

I have heard that a Massey windrower did use the F140 engine that a 22 did. My bet would that the block is the same but the timing gear cover and accessory's that bolt on would be different. When you buy the gasket set for that engine there are several choices on timing cover sets.

I am helping a friend work on a 1928 car that uses an 11 E continental engine .Some Tractors used big continental engines. Where can I get a gasket set for this six cyl. beast? It's a Moon automobile. They were built in St. Louis----- Any info. on MOON cars or parts would be helpful.THANKS!!!
