I have a MF 1020 diesel. When I turn the ignition to glow nothing happens. I live about 40 miles from the nearest service facility and would like to try to fix the tractor myself. The battery is good and there is power to the ignition and starter. Can anyone give me some suggestions on where to start? I'm not a mechanic, but I can use and read a multimeter. Thanks

At least on my mf168 electricity is used only to light the fuel coming to the glowplug, so it's acting like a blowtorch. You could check if there is any fuel coming to the plug. Also, check with that multimeter that there is really 12 volts going to the wire which goes to the glow plug. If not, your ignition switch has propably gone bad...
If the problem is neither of these, then the problem propably is with the glowplug itself

Hope this helps.
