Was at a sale on monday to see a what they said was a MF 35 in the paper. Turns out it was a red ferguson TO-35. Serial number was SGF 205424. It looked pretty much like my 63 Mf 35 except for the steel seat. According to some books I have it was a 1960 model. The block had a tag that read MF but the grille and hood said Ferguson. What is the story with this.

The tractor you cite is a 1960 Ferguson 35 Special. Late in 1960 it became known as the MF 35.They are essentially the same tractor. When Massey-Harris and Harry Ferguson, Inc. merged in late 1953, they decided to keep the Ferguson 35 label on the TO-35 long after the name of the company was changed to Massey Ferguson. Most of the other models became known as MF in 1958, except for the 35. In late December of 1960, the front hood emblem changed from "Ferguson" to "MF" and the side hood decals changed from "Ferguson 35" to "Massey Ferguson 35". I hope this information helps.

That does not apply to the Coventry, UK built models, which had their name change in 1958 as well as the change of colour. (1956/57 were gold metallic with grey tinwork named Ferguson FE-35, from 1958 grey/red named Massey-Ferguson MF-35)
