Does any one know what causes this? when I pull the top cover off the trans it appears to be stuck in second if I move the shift lever down to what should be nuetral it is in second and reverse.I put a screw driver in and pop it out of second and every thing is normal,it will only do this once in a while. The trans does not make any noise and there appears to be no wear or loose bearings or gears.what gives????
Thanks Wayne

I agree with Chuck, but I will add:
Move the lever straight back and forth with no side movement,(except of course in neutral) then it will not stick in gear. You can pull the shifter ball out of the forks with a 45 degree motion and a slight pull.
- just try....

My MF35 does this. I'm told that it is pretty common with MF and that the screwdriver through the filler hole is the fix. I've also found that driving over rough ground has jarred it loose at times. I posted the question about sticking in 2nd some time ago on this board, and somebody else posted the same question relative to sticking in another gear and there were a couple of suggestions about cause - or prevention I should say. When shifting across between the left pair (R-1 on my MF35) and the right pair (2-3 on my MF35), be careful to not lift up on the shift lever. Also, be sure to let the gear rotation stop before shifting.
