I need a little advice on an MF-35 gas. What does the black hose on top of the air filter hook up to? Mine just points toward the gas tank..doesn't connect to anything. Seems like a lot of dust and dirt could get sucked in that way.
There must be a screen or something to go over the end?

Do you meen the hose thats the size of a (heater hose) that sticks out the top of the air fillter just under the hose that goes into the dash.My fe 35 gas has that and it go's down under the carb and into the side of the engine block.

I have a '61 MF35 with Perkins diesel that sounds like it has a similar air cleaner arrangement. I looked hi and low for a replacement tube like you have, but couldn't find one. Gave up, and decided to use a K&N airfilter for a go-kart engine.

So I have the K&N filter for primary filtration, and the oil bath for secondary filtration. It works great, and more effectively than a pipe from the filter to the dash board. Let me know if you want the part # for the K&N filter. I'll look it up..

Terry: I would also like the K&N number for that filter you are using on your MF 35. I have MF35 diesel (perkins) with just the oil bath filter...where are you putting the K&N filter? Next to the manifold air intake, or between the oil bath tank and the dash? Please advise by email. [email protected] Thanks! Orlando

Hi Randy, and Orlando: Sorry to take so long to get back to you on this. I've been off the site for a while. The K&N part # is RD-0700. It further has 24844 00880 on the UPS sticker, and says it's a universal air filter 2 1/2" ID flange. Center 3 1/2" dia. 4" long. I have mine mounted on top the air filter, where the hose that goes to the dash normally is. I ordered it from, Jeg's High Performance, 751 East 11th Avenue, Columbus, OH. 43211. I was brush hogging some TALL weeds in dusty fields, and at the end of the day the oil in the bottom of the filter was as clean as when I first put it in. I'm very pleased with the performance. Hope this helps. Terry

PS
I also e-mailed you this info, but my e-mail account sometimes messes up.....

Normally the funnylooking rubber hose at the top goes thru an oval shaped hole in the back of the dash. If the hose is partly dissolved by oil and age it is hard to imagine. New ones may still be available at the mf dealer at an (un)reasonable price.
