I bought a 2805 that was burned up aand put it back in operating condition, and rebuilding the engine. The rotary pump was partially melted, so I put on one off a 540 combine motor. It is a Simms inline pump. I'm pretty sure I have the pump timed correctly and have 25 LBS of boost. There is no intake or exhaust restriction and all of the nozzles were redone. It is maybe running 180Hp, but with all the boost and 2 turns of fuel above the combine fuel setting, I don't see why I can't burn the fuel. The water temp wants to constantly run around 200-210 with 160 degree thermostats in it. The only thing left I can think of is the injection timing that I somehow screwed up. I took a valve and dropped it on #1 piston and set it to .200 BTDC or 21 degrees and set the pump using the spill method removing the delivery valve. I turned the pump until the fuel just stopped spilling from the attached line. I'm getting tired of seeing streams of black smoke. I checked the cam timing and that is also correct. I'm getting tired of seeing streams of black smoke. Does anyone have any other suggestions that they can think of? I think the timing might be the problem. I'm going to check it again tomorrow.

Did you ever figure out what was causing your problem?
