The pto on my MF 175 will not shut off.
Any ideas or tips on what to look for before I tear into it?
The pto lever on the side of the transmission case seems to be turning inside the case ok, so I'm assuming something is wrong inside. Can it be fixed without splitting the tractor?
Seems like I have seen a post somewhere relating to this problem, but I can't remember where.
Any advise will be appreciated.

Have the same problem. Will stop spinning when everything warms up. Big Dean mentioned to me that there is a breaking pad (small if you look at what it is suppose to stop) that is beginning to wear out.

E-mail meand I will try to find the picture that he e-mailed me and you will see the part I am talking about.

Is it still spinning with an implement attached and under some sort of load...or is it spinning with nothing attached?

Sometimes the pto clutch will stick or drag.. hook up an implement like a bush hog and run into a clump of grass with the PTO out of gear... see if it breaks free and stops spinning.
