Could someone tell me what the torque settings are for for the big ends?
Do the bolts on the timing gear case, inside (holding the case to the engine) and outside have a particular torque setting?
If someone has a list of all the torques on the engine that would be BRILLIANT!
Thanks alot, this is pretty urgent....

Sorry - I missed some!

We use the same tourques as the ones listed for the various unlisted bolt sizes. 1/4" = 6-9 lb/ft, 5/16 = 19-21.

Seems to work. We assist with silicone caulking on all the gasket surfaces except the head gasket. It calls for a non-hardening gasket sealer, and tightening in the spiral pattern from the centre out in 10 to 15 lb increments.

The 77 DSB cautions about head bolt lengths - if they are too long, they can score the camshaft.

Where did you get this information from, a book?
If it was from a book, would you be able to tell me the name of it as I am going to be working with the engine for sometime still.
Thanks
Jack

Thanks alot for the list of torques, they will help me to assemble the engine that is in bits now.
Once I have assembled the tractor together, I'll then see whether it will start..... .Wish me luck!

Regards
Jack
