I have a problem with the batteries going dead. Unless I unhook them at night, they'll be dead in the morning. It has a new starter, and switch on it, and there isnt too much else on a diesel is there ? I hooked up a volt meter from an unhooked cable, and a terminal on the battery, if I'm right, there should be nothing, but it has 12V. Everything is off, as far as I can see. Anyone else know what the problem might be ? thanks

Mic: I sent you a long email..I think your problem may be an oil pressure-sensor switch that is wired in line with your fuel gauge. Check that out first. Common problem with diesels. Let me know. Good luck! Orlando

I would check the voltage regulator next, the contacts could be stuck closed. If so the genenator feild coils would drain the batteries.
A quick check would be to place something metal near the genarator if it is magnitized, the feild coils are energized.
good luck, winston
