I just bought a 1964 MF65 deisel it is in good condition and starts good . The problem I am having is the engine was rebuilt before I got it (I was told?) and it has some blowby and is pressurizing the oil sump and emitting exaust vapor from the breather tube ( I think thats what it's called). My oil smells like fuel and it drips oil from that tube when I run it allot. Do I need to re overhaul this engine or just run it (temps are good)?. other than that its a real beauty and it runs great.

Thanks for any help

Watch the oil level in the crankcase. If the oil level is going up you may have a bad injector. It is not uncommon in diesels for a bad injector to dump fuel that finds it's way into the crankcase. Pressure in the crankcase is normal on older engines. (pre-EPA)Oil dripping from the crankcase breather tube is normal, as long as it isn't excessive. If you are smelling diesel in the oil my first priority would be to check the fuel injectors.

You might be getting diesel fuel in your oil,
thinning it down to where it blows out.

Would that be bad ring to sleave clearance or could it be something else?
